The problem with a lot of motion capture 3d animation is not that it’s not realistic enough, but that it’s too realistic. Often times there is a mismatch between stylized character models, and movement that is a bit too life-like. It’s like the two things don’t belong together.
This video is an emphatic exception. Here the contrast between the motion that has been captured from real dancers, and the many fantastical 3d models that this motion is attached to, is just very cool indeed. Created by Method Studios for AICP.
