Teams that work together routinely learn to collaborate better, so there is an advantage to in-house production. Having a full-time team also allows for a more flexible response to client needs. However, in-house staffs often don’t have the necessary specialist skills for certain tasks. They are also more expensive to maintain.
This is the choice most of our peers make. Overhead expenses are lowered, but the outsource studio’s overhead is often added to the price tag, inflating the cost for the client. If freelance artists are contracted instead of studios, then communication can suffer. Finally, in either case, service is dependent on partner availability.
Blended In-House and Freelance
This is how we do things. Our crack permanent staff conceptualizes, writes, designs and animates the project. Whatever cannot be handled in-house is assigned to independent artists with the necessary specialist skills. Flexibility and continuity of service is maximized while cost is minimized, so our clients can benefit from maximum value.
